Its perforated base allows air to circulate around the eggs, preventing mould from forming. Allows you to spot broken eggs.
The reusable trays can be piled when empty, allowing you to optimise storage space. The trays can be stacked thanks to the 14 supports on the underside of the tray which correspond to points on the top of the bottom tray.
