Regulation (EU) 2024/3190 of the European Union imposes strict restrictions on BPA, commonly found in items such as containers, utensils and packaging used daily in the food industry, the horeca sector and distribution. As of January 20, 2025, this Commission regulation prohibits the use and trade of Bisphenol A (BPA) in materials in contact with food throughout the European Union.
Trust true experts. At Araven, we already offer alternative ranges of reusable containers manufactured in BPA-free materials that replace Polycarbonate, such as high-quality ABS and food-grade Polypropylene. Both materials provide excellent mechanical, thermal and durability properties for professional environments.
From this date, the introduction into the market of new products manufactured with BPA in materials in contact with food is prohibited. This means that any new product using BPA in its manufacturing process may not be marketed in the European Union. This measure aims to accelerate the transition to BPA-free alternatives and ensure that all products on the market comply with the new food safety standards.
For products already in circulation that contain BPA, the deadline for their presence on the market is January 20, 2029. After this date, these products must be withdrawn from the market, even if they have been previously marketed. This provision ensures that all food-contact products are safe and BPA-free by that date.
